Be Careful What You Wish For

How should Malaysians, including the blogging community, respond to the current times of political change, shocking statutory declarations and social discontent with the current establishment?

The Bible has an answer in the book of Micah verse 6,chapter 8: 'He has showed you, O man what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.'

This wise advice applies not only to Christians but to everyone who is tired of all the upheaval in the political arena. The post-8 March 2008 "reawakening" of political consciousness can turn chaotic if we are not careful about what we wish for.

Jeremiah that same bible you read can you explain to me what did the bible meant by this, and weather its appropriate to be inside a holy book?

Please read, Genesis Chapter 19. Verse 30 to 38

30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let's get our father to drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father."
33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I lay with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and lie with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went and lay with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
36 So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. 37 The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab [g] ; he is the father of the Moabites of today. 38 The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi [h] ; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.
If your child, ask you, they are pregnant by thier own dad...?and why such information on the book of god...can you actually answer them?

There are many shameful deeds of men and women that are recorded in the bible because mankind has a sinful nature. Giving our lives and faith in God will help to regenerate our nature but there are always temptations to watch out for. In the case of Lot, his weakness was a liking for alcohol.

Mathew Henry has a more accurate commentary on this verse:

"See the peril of security. Lot, who kept chaste in Sodom, and was a mourner for the wickedness of the place, and a witness against it, when in the mountain, alone, and, as he thought, out of the way of temptation, is shamefully overtaken.

Let him that thinks he stands high, and stands firm, take heed lest he fall. See the peril of drunkenness; it is not only a great sin itself, but lets in many sins, which bring a lasting wound and dishonour. Many a man does that, when he is drunk, which, when he is sober, he could not think of without horror.

See also the peril of temptation, even from relations and friends, whom we love and esteem, and expect kindness from. We must dread a snare, wherever we are, and be always upon our guard. No excuse can be made for the daughters, nor for Lot.

Scarcely any account can be given of the affair but this, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? From the silence of the Scripture concerning Lot henceforward, learn that drunkenness, as it makes men forgetful, so it makes them to be forgotten."

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask anytime.

Say this: Heavenly Father, I have sinned against You. Forgive all my sins. I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I give you my life to do as You wish. I want Jesus to come into my life & heart. In Jesus's name. Amen
