For many of us, it is practically a fear pandemic that has reached into every aspect of our lives: from the lockdowns to social distancing to the way we order our food and how we look at strangers next to us.
Within 3-4 months of its spread across countries, the virus of fear has gone more viral than the virus itself.
And it is tragic not least for the fact that its origins are clouded in mystery, what more from a country well known for dark secrets and information censorship.
A Socratic dialogue between 2 strangers
Using the Socratic method, let us run through a hypothethical conversation between two persons in 2020 (despite all the media's cognitive biases):
Person A: Would it matter to you whether (i) the SARS 2 coronavirus originated from a lab or (ii) it was a naturally evolved virus that was somehow transmitted from a wild animal to humans?
Person B: I don't think this question matters at the present stage of the crisis. It is almost impossible to know and anyway most scientists and even the WHO have said the virus was not man-made and that it originated from the Huaran seafood market in Wuhan.
Person A: But what if they were wrong? Did you know there are several virologists, biochemical war analysts and journalists who are strongly convinced the virus was synthesised in a lab?
Person B: They are entitled to their views. I think the priority of governments around the world is to first contain the pandemic and second, bring the process of recovery for their citizens and economies.
All other conjectures about the origins of the virus can only be conspiracy theories and there are so many versions around.
Person A: I wholeheartedly agree with you that the immediate action should be to focus on fire-fighting the virus and arresting its spread.
But at the same time, assuming that the virus was engineered in a lab and leaked for nefarious purposes, don't you think it is important to know who shot the arrow? (Leave aside for the moment whether it is practically possible or impossible to find out the truth).
Person B: Ok. So then what? What if we were able to ascertain the virus was engineered in a lab (as some virologists claim that a HIV strain was detected in the Covid-19 genome sequence and that it was not a naturally occurring virus). What can we, as citizens, do about it?
Besides, if it was from the lab, it could have been for legitimate medical purposes to protect mankind from future mutations.
Mind you, we are talking here about China, a government that is known for secrecy and information control.
Person A: As I said earlier, we are posing an existential question first before we go into questions of practicalities.
So the existential question is: Why? If it was engineered and leaked throughout the world, why do it ?
Person B: You tell me. I have the faintest idea. Only a truly evil mind could think of creating such a destruction upon millions.
Person A: Exactly. Now we are finally doing a thought experiment! It may lead us to somewhere or a blank wall. We don't know as yet the rationale, the big picture of such an elaborate scheme to leak a virus which, incidentally, is not highly fatal (only 1-3% mortality rate) but highly infectious.
Person B: So what is your point then?
Person A: My point, sir, is that there is a rationale for this virus to be unleashed. We just need to ask ourselves what is the immediate outcome of this pandemic on the part of world governments and citizens.
Besides deaths, infections and the lock-down measures causing the secondary effects of joblessness and recessions, the overwhelming impact is fear.
People are afraid of being infected and the governments and media have encouraged this fear with their social distancing measures.
Person B: So what is the purpose of this fear? Isn't it natural to be afraid and wise to be cautious?
Person A: Of course it is. But the fear has gone overboard. People are afraid of going out, of standing near others, even their own friends. The virus is an invisible enemy and avoiding it supercedes everything.
Person B: You still haven't explained the rationale for the virus to be leaked on purpose.
Person A: Ok. Let's get to the chase. The chain effects may be complex but the goal is quite simple: the pandemic is unleashed to create a shock to world economies and markets with the aim of sabotaging the re-election of the U.S. president Donald Trump.
Person B: Alright. But then why would the enemies of Trump not just leak the virus in Washington instead of harming the rest of the world?
Person A: Good question. There are several possible reasons which are supported by different sets of facts:
Firstly, the Wuhan Institute of Virology has the SARS2 Covid virus. It was originally experimented for GOF (Gain-Of-Function research aims to increase the transmissibility and/or virulence of pathogens) purposes in the U.S. back in 2014-2015 until the US government shut the project down and outsourced it to the Wuhan lab.
Secondly, there is a parallel plan to sell a vaccine worldwide on the part of the patent holders and pharmaceutical companies as a treatment to the virus.
Thirdly, China controls the information about the project and is best placed to keep the project a military secret. All traces would not be found or investigated as the country will not welcome any foreign investigators.
Fourthly, the parallel agenda also involves the hidden agenda to reduce the population of the world, a project which was promoted as one of the solutions to global warming.

Person B: Man, this is mind-boggling stuff that could make a good spy novel or a Stephen King horror tale.
But what would a country like China gain by doing this crime against her own people and the world?
Person A: By causing a recession in the U.S., Trump will be prevented from winning a second term at the November 3 elections.
As a result, the Chinese government will have removed a major stumbling block to its global ambitions in terms of its global 5G dominance and economic power.
As to your question about lives being lost, in geopolitical warfare, there are no prisoners (civilians, etc) and every long term geopolitical advantage will have collateral damages.
Person B: And what if this plan is exposed? Would there be a war between both superpowers?
Person A: That would be a realistic albeit perilous possibility given the tensions between the two nations.
But there is a twist to this war. It may not be an actual war as yet.
Rather, it will be a cold war that is not only fought in trade and affiliations but also an internal political war between the American peoples themselves with the Republican and Democrat supporters in conflict with each other.
The twist to one version of the conspiracy is that the Democrat elite are in on the pandemic strategy.
Given their slim chances of winning with a very weak candidate Joe Biden, they are desperate to see Trump exit the White House after having failed in their two attempts to impeach him. A recession will swing the odds in their favour.
Person B: And what evidence or proof do you have to support this theory of yours? Are you a die-hard Trump supporter who has bought into his ideas and whims?
Person A: You see, the fact that you question this scenario with a question about partisan political bias shows you are already influenced by the mainstream media. Many people have been cognitively deceived by the media and they no longer have critical thinking skills when fear is their dominant emotion.
Let me put it this way, the information that reveals this conspiracy may never be 100% corroborated because the intelligence agencies would have covered it up.
The only way we can know is through the surpernatural and as a Christian, I believe that some aspects of this scheme were revealed to certain prophets.
Person B: How sure are you that these 'prophets' are not on the payroll of the deep state or the CIA?
Person A: I cant be sure. But as the Bible says, a tree is judged by its fruit. And so far, I havent' noticed that these messengers of God are not genuine or have spoken falsely.
Person B: Then how shall we know the truth? At the end of the day, you are only showing me pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that may not fit the truth.
